From Top Gear website: "Back in the red !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Kimi Raikkonen managed to finish day one at the top of the timesheets."
If this were a reality show I would watch the hell out of it. I can only imagine how annoyed Alonso is right now.

Yet, Kimi himself says the lap times today don't matter. http://bit.ly/LkSqgl

Kimi was top of a timesheet that consisted of 8 cars, only 6 of which set a time. Of those 6, only 2 of them area really "on the pace," Kimi's and Hamilton's that was 0.7 off. The Williams in 3rd was nearly 3 seconds slower, and all anyone seemed to do today was see if their car worked. Red Bull barely ran at all and didn't set a time, because they'd put something on the car wrong (or some such like) and were out of action until the last 10 minutes.
I'd wait until the end of tomorrow or possibly the end of the whole test before drawing any conclusions.

Vettel didn't even set a fast lap time. This is just a running test, not a time trial.
Besides, Kimi's fast lap is still 4 seconds slower than the fast lap at the circuit set in 1997.

It's a little early to make anything of these numbers, but I've been champing at the bit to watch Kimi and Alonso race together and, hopefully, race each other. It's nice to see Ferrari go all in on drivers, and I just hope their car is good.

Agreed- between the teams its way too early. Inter-team is worth watching, especially the delightful Ferrari camp. So pumped for F1 this year!

The times are irrelevant today, but I hope Kimi comes out strong.

We just leave him alone, because he knows what to do.

Yeah, maybe not even then, they will go back to the shop and make changes based on anything they learn. They often find a reason they can't push a bit harder and fix it for the next time. I doubt they will sand bag, not much time to do anything, they pretty much hope the car gets through a days programme at this point!

Four seconds slower, uh?
On a testing, non-competitive day, uh?

That's exactly my point. The article and post seem to be putting value on the fact that Kimi had the best time. It's a test day. It means nothing.

Indeed. I remember Red Bull bringing an upgrade package to the first race last year. But this year task one is making sure it will actually last a race distance.
